Why I decided to blog about being your mummy

My little darling, this post is for you.

I hesitated quite a long time before starting this blog. I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do… After all, I share anecdotes of our life. I am writing about my feelings and experiences but also (and especially) about you. I can’t really ask you for permission… One day, you will be older and might read this blog. The last thing I want is you to be upset or mad at me for sharing some of your photos, some of our stories.

So, little darling, if you read this one day, this is why I decided to start this blog:

I am so very proud of being your mummy. I am taking pictures of everything you do. So many that my phone constantly tells me that there is no space left anymore to take new photos. I am amazed about everything you learn everyday and I am happy and thankful to be able to watch you learn all these new things. If I could, I would tell the world how happy you make me everyday.

When you arrived, I had like a million questions. I wanted to do everything right but, sometimes, didn’t know how. We moved to Dubai when you were still a tiny little baby. With friends and family far away, reading other mums’ blogs was somehow reassuring. Other mums seemed to go through the same situations. Every mum does, I guess. After a while, we got to know each other and you answered my questions one after the other. But reading other blogs made me smile. It still does. It’s like sharing experiences with friends.

Many people that love you and have seen you grow inside my belly are living far away from us. They miss you and would like to see you more often, see you grow up. Let them participate a bit in our life. Let me share some of our stories.

I won’t blog about everything, I promise. Some moments will be just for us. Some of the laughter. Some of the tears. We will keep them for ourselves.
