Have you met Jumeirah Jane? Well, if you’re living in Dubai, I’m pretty sure you have – without even knowing it ;-)

The term “Jumeirah Jane”, or JJ, describes a certain kind of expat women in Dubai – these glamorous and privileged housewives who traditionally lived in the chic neighborhood of Jumeirah, who don’t work and spend their husbands’ money in Dubai’s numerous designer stores.

Being a western expat wife myself, I have to admit that we probably all have a little bit of Jumeirah Jane in us. All the mums I see every day at the mall, at the beach, walking along the Marina promenade. Even my friends and… yup, myself as well.

Finally, Swiss-French writer Kyra Dupont Troubetzkoy and French illustrator Céline Maslard have teamed up to give Jumeirah Jane a face: their brand-new comic book “My Fantastic Life in Dubai – The Oh-so True Story of Jumeirah Jane (The Ultimate Expat)” is entirely dedicated to her.

I couldn’t wait to discover the over 60 hilarious and very honest scenes of the book – scenes that can only happen in Dubai! So Dubai! Each of them is revealing an hilarious and touching Jumeirah Jane – the best of her unique lifestyle as a, let’s face it, spoiled expat housewife in Dubai. Absurd, super funny, but never offensive.

  

After the exclusive book launch yesterday night, which took place at the luxurious Sofitel The Palm Resort & Spa (where else than on The Palm?!), I spend hours flipping through the pages of the book. And, honestly, the simple drawings and funny comments made my day. It’s exactly the sense of humor I love!

I absolutely had to share it with you!
