About Me

Welcome to ourbigdubaiadventure!

To be honest, I never thought I would write a blog one day – but then again, I never thought I would be an expat mum neither😉 My life took a 360 degree turn when I arrived in Dubai with my husband Fabio and our baby boy Luca Maël in November 2014.

Having lived in beautiful (but sometimes slightly chilly) Switzerland for the last years, we are today  enjoying the sunny Dubai weather! Life as an expat mum in Dubai is great – people are very nice with kids and, as there are so many expats (only about 11% of the people living in the UAE are also nationals of the UAE), it is fairly easy to make friends and to meet other expat mums.

Of course, it is not always easy to be away from friends and family in Europe, especially when you’re a first-time mum and you have like 1 questions… Oh and there are no grand-parents that can help you and look after your baby for an afternoon or so. And now we are expecting baby N° 2!

So, life can be a bit like a roller coaster from time to time. But I am enjoying every minute of it – especially to have the possibility to be 100% with our little Luca during his first months:-)

I love to read other mums’ blogs – they make me smile and, often, they give me good ideas and useful information. With this blog I simply want to share some of my own experiences and views.

Enjoy😉

Well i came across your blog today, went through some posts and really liked them:)

Just looking at the content, was wondering if you have written something about book readings in libraries or certain events for babies of 10 months.

I moving to Dubai with my now 10 months old daughter and i am very worried about the activites for her and getting to meet and play with other kids.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Ola

Hi Ola, thanks so much for your nice message and sorry for not replying earlier 😉 So far, I haven’t written anything about book reading but it’s a very good idea ☺️ If I am not wrong there is a Songs & Stories session at The Change Initiative every Tuesday morning. You might want to call them for more details. I know that Kidz Venture (at Hilton Double Tree JBR if I’m not wrong) has also organised reading sessions and puppet shows on Thursday mornings. However, I haven’t been to these sessions so far. Let me know if you are going and if your little princess is enjoying it ☺️ Have you already arrived in Dubai? I look forward to hearing from you, Tani

Hey, just saw that now😀. Thank you so much for the recommendations. I moved last week but its been crazy trying to furnish the house and look after Farida plus we both caught a cold. Crazy Dubai weather, super hot and super cold ACs. But i’ll check them out and let you know, also will check out the nursery, its very close to where i live. So happy Luca started to enjoy it.
    SUPER HELPFUL Tani, thanks again.

My pleasure, Ola😉 So sorry to hear that you both caught a cold. It was exactly the same for us when we arrived in Dubai. We were just not used to the ACs… But you’ll get used to them in no time (and appreciate them hehe:-) ). Should you have any questions, let me know. If I can help, I am happy to do so
