It’s extremely rare that I review or recommend play areas. But if I do it is because there’s something special about it. Something that makes me want to bring my kids. Again. And again. Something that makes me want to write about it. And tell you, yes, it is worth going.

belongs to this category of play areas. And, probably, it should not even be called a play area. It’s more like a creative centre. A centre where kids can get creative.

When we arrived, Luca was immediately attracted by the Building Block Assembly, an area where foam blocks in different shapes can be assembled to create all sorts of things. We created a car. A tower. And a bridge. I love the fact that all blocks are in the same colour and that you can focus on the shapes and on how they create new shapes when they are put together.

In the Creative Garage, the little ones can play pretend to ‘drive’ a car, repair it and even change its wheels. There’s also a big car shaped puzzle on the wall but Luca was still a bit young for this activity. He loved to explore the car though, and to be a ‘driver’ like daddy 😉

We had a quick look at Cloud 7’s Interactive Digital Lab as well, where kids can make a superhero with Play Doh. The latter is then scanned into a video game. I love the idea but, once again, little L was a bit too young for this. So, we decided to move on to the Creative Station – and, oh my, Luca enjoyed himself so much!

At the Creative Station, you can choose from the following four activities:
Soap Making
Candle Making
Ceramic Painting
And Cake Decorating, which was the only activity we didn’t try. Not because it was not attractive (kids can decorate a ‘cake’ made of Styrofoam with real fondant) but because we simply had no time anymore (not easy to fit activities in between the sleeping and feeding times of two little ones – add the numerous sprints to the toilet with your toddler and you’re left with close to no time at all).

So, we started with the Soap Making. For me, this is the ideal activity. The kiddies are happy because they can create their own soap (they can choose their preferred shape, scent and little toy figures to put into it) and mummies are happy because the kids will actually USE the soap to wash their hands later 😉 That’s by the way one thing that I really liked about Cloud 7 – you get to take something home. It’s not just fun and play and then it’s over. You make something. You create something. Little L was so proud to show everything he had created to his dad in the evening.

Anyways. While we let the soap set in the freezer, we tried the next activity: Candle Making. Again, Luca could choose from different shapes, colours and scents. I love the candle Luca has created. It actually looks really nice. Not that this surprises me. But I wouldn’t put all of little L’s creations in the middle of a dining table. The candle I would 😉

We finished our visit with Ceramic Painting. This is maybe the most common activity but it is perfect for Luca’s age. At the moment, he loves to paint and to experiment with colours. So, he really didn’t want to leave without painting a cupcake (which was an ice cream cone but if you asked Luca he would spend hours convincing you that it was a cupcake). And I love to see little L get creative (messy) with colours. In another place than our apartment that is 😉

So, overall, we really had a great afternoon at Cloud 7. And, in case you wonder, yes, they did invite me. But, no, I was not obliged to write a review or recommend this new place. I just think it’s a great place to spend some time with the kids. Cause it is different. The place itself is quite minimalist. The place itself is quite white. And pale. And boring. It’s all about the kids. Their creativity. Their creations. The colour they bring to this place. It’s the opposite to what they usually see here in Dubai. To all the impressions they get every day…
