If there is one Dubai tradition we immediately adopted when we moved to the UAE two years ago it is brunching. Now, sitting in a restaurant for several hours with two little ones might not seem like the most relaxing weekend activity. True. Except if you go to a place that makes the kids’ eyes sparkle. Except if you go to a place that offers so much more than just food. Where the kids have their own buffet. A kids’ club. And a pool on their own.

I love the fact that, recently, more and more hotels have started to include in their brunch offer beach and/or pool access as well as different activities to keep the little ones entertained. Lapita Hotel’s new Polynesian inspired Daycation Brunch is part of this new family brunch concept.

So, last weekend, we decided to make our way to Dubai Parks and Resorts where this beautiful resort hotel is located.

The first thing you should know about Lapita’s Daycation Brunch is that its buffet is impressive. Even for Dubai standards. There are two main buffet areas: Inside the restaurant, you can find a wide range of fresh seafood and sushi, a cheese buffet as well as a selection of Indian and Arabic dishes. It is also inside that you can let yourself get tempted by a beautiful edible miniature garden on a bed of hummus and an amazing selection of desserts, including tropical fruits and a chocolate fountain. A must-try is the ‘KandyKool’ popcorn, which is frozen with liquid nitrogen!

Outdoors, there are several live food stations, including a Polynesian BBQ grill station that you shouldn’t miss. I personally loved the barbecued prawns, which are among the best I have tasted here in Dubai so far! Luca also enjoyed watching a chef prepare freshly made noodles – such a nice entertainment for the little ones!

For the little ones

At Lapita, kids have their own dedicated buffet in the kids’ corner. I wish this was available at every brunch! It makes a mum’s life so much easier 😉 Luca was oh so happy to find his beloved French fries and burgers. But there are also healthier options available, including a juice station where juice blends can be created from fresh fruits, and a fruit salad dessert.

I was also happy to see all the activities that were organised for the little ones in the outdoor area of the Luna & Nova Kids and Teens Club: face painting and arts and crafts projects, movie screening and foosball table games. And even a photo booth with props! Luca and Maëva are still a bit small but I can totally see older kids playing in the kids’ club while their parents are enjoying some Polynesian specialities. Especially as the kids’ corner is within eyesight and there are numerous staff members supervising the activities.

So much more than a brunch

Entertainment at the Lapita Daycation Brunch is just as important as the food. Even the chefs perform a Haka in the middle of the different food stations! All of us, including Luca who was dancing on his chair, also enjoyed the live band that played Polynesian inspired rhythms during the whole afternoon.

The best is however that the brunch comes with access to the hotel’s two outdoor pools (one for adults and one for kids) and a lazy river, where you can spend the day enjoying the weather, which is just perfect at the moment!

If you’re not so keen on spending the afternoon in the water, you can also move on and explore the Dubai Parks & Resorts theme parks, which are located right next to the hotel.

We had an amazing time at the Lapita Daycation Brunch and I would even say that, in terms of food and value for money, it is one of the best Dubai family brunches I know.

They have a special Easter Brunch coming up on April 14 when kids can embark on an egg-hunting escapade and other themed activities. An Easter Bunny will also pay a visit at the brunch 😉

If you decide to try the Lapita Daycation Brunch, I recommend you ask for a table outside while the weather is still nice, to make the most of the beautiful setting.
