I grew up in the German country side. Sounds boring? Well, it kind of was when I was a teenager. But it definitely was not as a child. I loved to spend whole days at the farm nearby. To pet the rabbits. To collect freshly laid eggs. To chase the cats. And to watch the cows. And horses.
I don’t live in the German country side anymore. And, as much as I loved it there as a child, I don’t think I will live there any soon again. I’ve just changed too much over the years. It’s just not what I want for now. Having said that, I do regret that my children will probably never spend their days running around in the fields. Stealing corn cobs. Playing in the dirt. I do regret that they will probably never experience all of this. Of course, they will experience other things. Other things that will make their childhood just as unforgettable. But still.
So, today we took the little ones to The Desert Palm Stables. Cause we might live in one of the most modern and booming cities of the world, but there are still possibilities to get a bit of this ‘farm feel’ I was talking about. And you know what? I’ve rarely seen Luca happier. Not only was he so excited to see the horses that he was jumping up and down like a little bouncing ball, he also had no fear at all. That was actually the only concern I had when we decided to spend the afternoon in this beautiful place that is literally around the corner (30min by car from Dubai Marina).

I have been there a number of times and it really is an oasis.
It is, Julie! will definitely be back soon for a walk with the little ones
Thank you so much for sharing this gem! I can not wait to visit the Stable with my toddler who is also horse mad! Luca looks adorable wearing the jockey outfit!
You are very welcome
Hope Master Z will like it x
Looks like a lovely place indeed! It must have been so wonderful for you to have grown up in the countryside.
It’s an amazing place, Tarana. It was nice but a bit boring when I was a teenager hehe
Oh wow! Thank you for sharing this, I thought it was exclusive to riders only
You’re very welcome
What a stunning place you have found and photographed so beautifully Tani. Last year I took our Little Girl to the Royal Stables, here in Abu Dhabi, every Sunday for much the same reasons you mention in this post. I’m not sure who misses it more now she is at school and we can’t go every week…
Thanks so much, Shea. Hope we will be able to meet some time soon. We seem to have a lot in common xxx
